An innovative culinary experience has just popped up on the IJburg island of Amsterdam. IJburg Seveert is a unique pop-up restaurant which serves three-course meals by the beach. Only, instead of having a chef cook from an on-site kitchen, the food is prepared by locals in their own homes, then delivered to the beach side diners through cyclists.

On a Saturday morning on October 2005 the earth started trembling and vibrating savagely under the feet of the residents of the Northeast Pakistan portending that a great tragedy was on its way. The land of Kashmir, already bleeding and scarred by an endless conflict between Pakistan and India was once again in the eye of the cyclone. This time it was the hand of nature that was knocking brutally on its door. The Pakistani Kashmir was shattered by an earthquake that caused almost 80,000 deaths and left homeless another 4 million people.

In 2013 when the eight-story commercial building Rana Plaza collapsed in Dhaka causing 1,137 deaths, a doctor from California felt that she has a mission there. Jennifer Farrell had been in Bangladesh a year before the accident  providing medical training to doctors,  students, and youth volunteers along with her mentor. When the fatal accident occurred she noticed that the volunteers they had trained responded to the crisis by organizing with each other through social media, in an attempt to provide help to the trapped victims.

Unlocking the Door to Hope

It’s been more than a decade that the second civil war came to an end in Liberia with the country struggling its way through democracy since then. The annual Fragile State Index had considered the West African country as a success story, climbing back, slowly but steadily, from the abyss. This year's data though were disheartening. Liberia shifted 12 spots in the ranking in 5 years falling from number 33 in 2010 to number 21 in 2015.
