Jaws

Who hasn’t heard about the legendary Jaws?  The film by Steven Spielberg was a high-tension movie about a giant man-eating shark that terrorized the people on Amity Island.  The film received three Oscars.

A film that become iconic as soon as it was released, in 1979, mirroring the taboos of those days respecting incomplete families and emancipation. Dustin Hoffman as Ted Kramer, who stays alone with his son after his wife Joanna (Meryl Streep) leaves them. The film won 5 Oscars. 

Days of Heaven 

An Oscar-winning, poetic movie about events around the turn of the century in Chicago. A steelworker, Billy, kills a foreman in a fight and is on the run with his sister Linda and girlfriend Abby.

 

Apocalypse Now 

The award-winning movie by Francis Ford Coppola, based on the book by Joseph Conrad.  A war drama depicting the Vietnam war, focusing especially on the psychology of the characters.
