Our movie series, dedicated to exploring an entire century decade by decade, is approaching the end, and we are now reporting on the last completed decade to this date – in the Millenium. Many great movies were produced during this decade, leaving a legacy of high standards for the coming decades to aspire to match.

Our perceived needs have been increasing dramatically. The constant demand for consumer items and access to material things is on the agenda. Living while cut off from all these amenities is almost inconceivable. And yet, people live in places so isolated that their connection to civilization is extremely restricted, in some places limited to a couple of times a year. Recently we started a series of articles dedicated to the different ways to prepare the basic ingredients in cooking. Last week we addressed the many ways to prepare eggs, and this week we explore another common ingredient that appears in many dishes – the potato.

Following up on the virtual visits we have paid to India and Thailand during the last two weeks, we are going to stay in Asia for a bit and move to the North, to a vast country with ravishing sights - China.

Herd, flock, and crowd are words that describe groups of animals of the same species. Flock is specific for birds. Other animals make do with herd or crowd. Some species, though, have more specific designations that relate to their particular kind.
