Fully Funded Conference For Young People In The UK

The British Council invites youth activists from Egypt, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Mexico, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Tunisia, and the UK to apply to participate in the Future Leaders Connect program. In order to participate, candidates should complete an online application by 14 May, for Morocco and Tunisia the deadline for applications is April 30. 

The main, long-term aim is to provide future leaders with a platform for networking as well as to contribute to the development of the skills that will be essential in today’s fast-changing world of innovation and globalization. The conference will take place in London on 18-27 October. Selected participants will be able to be part of a long-term worldwide network of emerging policy leaders. The events at the program include discussions in the Parliament in London, a visit to a residential development program, and meetings with world leaders and policymakers.

Entry to the Program is free of charge. The British Council shall arrange and pay for the travel of participants to the Program in the UK. During the duration of the Program, participants will be provided free accommodation and meals.

In 2017, there will be 50 spaces available for applicants from the following countries: Egypt, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Mexico, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Tunisia, and the UK. (For India and Egypt there will be separate applications with requirements available on the website).

The application includes several topics on which candidates should give a detailed response. Shortlisted candidates will then be invited for an interview.

Main criteria

  • Individuals must be aged between 18 and 35 years old as of 14 May 2017;
  • English skills at IELTS level 6 or equivalent;
  • Be based in one of the participating countries; and be available to travel to the UK for 9 days around the time of 18-27 October 2017.
