Rubincam Youth Writing Competition

High school students from around the world are encouraged to submit essays on the origins of their families.

The Rubincam Youth Writing Competition Awards encourage and recognize youth as the next generation of family historians. The deadline is on 15 December 2019.

Senior

High school students in grades 9–12 at the time of submission. The award winner receives a $500 cash prize, a plaque, and a one-year NGS membership (non-print).

Junior

Middle school students in grades 6–8 at the time of submission. The award winner receives a $250 cash prize, a plaque, and a one-year NGS membership (non-print).

Main criteria

  • The application form contains questions that are provided for students as a guide to writing their essays.
  • Young persons worldwide are eligible to apply. NGS membership is not required for participation.
  • Submissions must be original unpublished work in English.
