In a world where travel agents are passé and most of us are accustomed to building our own itineraries and making our own bookings, be it transport or hotels, this start-up has not only launched an app for expert advice on travel through its team but has also raised a whopping 20 million dollars in funding. Its founder, Paul English, has previously co-founded several other companies including Kayak. We asked Mr. English how they run their business in this environment, and more.

At the Forum he will offer the participants some insights on how to get funding for their projects, and he will elaborate a bit further on how cryptocurrency can be an effective tool for startups. Dr. Tlaleng Mofokeng, from Durban, South Africa, has been named one of the 100 Most Influential Young Africans of 2017 by Africa Youth Awards. Mofokeng is a Medical Doctor who specializes in sexual and reproductive health and also works as a sex educator, an activist, a writer, and a presenter. From an early age, she knew she wanted to be a doctor, helping kids in the neighbourhood with her tiny medical kit. Today, she is widely recognized and loved, people call her Dr. T, and she educates young people to intill proper sexual and reproductive knowledge regardless of their age, economic status, or sexual identity. Every week, around 2000 young African women are infected with HIV; young women and girls suffer from lack of adequate knowledge about contraception; and some die due to dangerous abortions. Many South Africans can not afford private health care – and that is where Dr. T is available to help out. This inspiring young woman says she adores her job, despite many hard days and heartbreaking moments, because she feels she is making a difference. She sees happiness in her mission, enjoying her loved ones and the fulfilling work that she does, escpecially appreciating the days when she can stay tucked into bed, with no alarm clock to wake her up in the morning.
We are excited to publish the latest article interviewing one of workshop trainers for Youth Global Forum in Dubai, Dr. Delfina Fantini van Ditmar. Dr. Fantini will be travelling all the way from Santiago, Chile to share her knowledge and inspire participants at the event. Dr. Delfina Fantini completed her PhD at the Royal College of Art in Innovation Design Engineering. Her work investigates how complex, lived, human experience is represented within the quantified approaches inherent in current notions of ‘smart’ technology. Her research questions and critically analyses the above quantitative approach which is starting to permeate into our bodies and the central infrastructure of our homes and cities. Dr. Fantini will be hosting a workshop entitled, “The Importance of Ethics in the Process of Digitilization of Life”. This pre-event interview aims to provide Youth Global Forum participants with added insight and understanding as to what they can expect from the workshop, in addition to learning how to best prepare for the event.
